The theme for the 2006 season
of FLL is nanotechnology.
We changed the design of our robot to take into account what
we learned last
year, especially at the Open European Championships (OEC). Five
members of the current team went to the OEC and we have three new
team
members.
On
24th and 25th February, we appeared in the Robotic Wars event
at STEAM.
Our robot appeared in the Advertiser on Monday 26th February and
also in a video on SwindonWeb.
We were interviewed on BBC
Radio Swindon on Thursday 25 January.
We won three awards at the Swindon
Regional Tournament, including the overall Director's Award,
which won us a place at the UK final.
At the UK final, we came 10th overall. The robot did not behave
brilliantly on the table –our highest score was 197, but
in round 1 we encouraged the other teams by scoring a pitiful 15!
We did not win any awards, but we will spend the next few months
working out what to do with our new NXT kit.
