Teams must be able to tell the judges how they built their robot,
both the hardware and the software. Teams can base their robot
on either the original RCX or the newer NXT.
We have used the RCX so far, although we have built an NXT version
of the robot we ran in the UK Final. The picture below shows our
robot with the strategic object that delivers the solar panel to
the house roof.
The white plates on the strategic object provide
a counterweight to the scaffolding.
The RCX can only hold five programs at a time. However,
we have programmed it to run a specific task when we press one
of the Red or Green buttons on the top of the RCX. This means we
can effectively load up to ten programs.
